General Guidelines for Admission

  1. Candidates should go through the information provided in prospectus and ensure the eligibility for admission before filling the application form.
  2. Application for admission to the desired course should be made in the prescribed application enclosed with this prospectus.
  3. Incomplete application form will be rejected without any intimation.
  4. Selection of the Candidates: The duly filled Applications received from the Eligible Candidates with the Photocopies of Relevant Documents will be scrutinized thoroughly by the Principal. The students depending upon the allotted seats will be selected for admission.
  5. If the number of applications exceeds the allotted seats, students will be selected based on merit ranking.
  6. All the seats are under Management Category only. No Reservation policy is being followed in selecting the candidates for admission.
  7. Each application should be accompanied by THREE SETS OF PHOTOCOPIES of the relevant documents separately.


Original Certificates to be Submitted on the day of Admission

  1. Mark Statement of Higher Secondary Course (HSC)
  2. Mark Statement of SSLC / CBSE / Matriculation .
  3. Transfer Certificate obtained for HSC (or) the Last (Most Recent) Course studied from the Recognized Institution
  4. Community Certificate (SC/ST, MBC, BC, OBC, DNC, OC etc.,) issued by the competent authority
  5. Migration Certificate for those who are discontinued from the other courses and willing to enroll into the course (to be obtained from the university last studied)
  6. Eligibility Certificate (to be obtained from the Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR Medical University, Chennai)
  7. Diploma Course Certificate for those who are seeking lateral admission
  8. MEDICAL FITNESS CERTIFICATE in the prescribed format enclosed herewith (should be obtained not less than one month prior to Admission)
  9. Important Note: Medical Fitness Certificate should be submitted with a separate Blood Grouping Investigation Report from any authorized Serology Laboratory

  10. SIX COLOUR PASSPORT SIZED PHOTOGRAPHS (should not be taken less than three months)


Three Sets of Photocopies of the following documents to be enclosed along with the Application

  1. Mark Statement of Higher Secondary Course (HSC)
  2. Mark Statement of SSLC / CBSE / Matriculation .

  5. Migration Certificate for those who are discontinued from the other courses and willing to enroll into the course (to be obtained from the university last studied)
  6. Eligibility Certificate (to be obtained from the Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR Medical University, Chennai)
  7. Diploma Course Certificate in case of Lateral Entry Admission
  8. Any other photocopies of the relevant documents to be enclosed with the application


Important Note

Translation Certificates

Candidates from other than Tamil Nadu State should produce the Translation of their Original Certificates if they are not in the Language of Tamil or English. Translation should be done to English.


The Original Documents will be kept under the custody of Principal’s Office for a period of Six (06) Months from the date of admission. Those documents will be returned back to the students after the Spot Verification at the Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR Medical University, Chennai.

Medium of instruction

The medium of instruction and examination shall be in English only.



Scheme of Examination

There shall be three examinations one each at the end of first, second and third year in the month of August, however candidates who fail from any papers may appear in the subsequent Examinations during February Month. A candidate who satisfies the requirement of attendance, progress and conduct as stipulated by the university shall be eligible to appear for the university examination.

The last date for submission of filled-in examination application for the Examinations will be informed well – in – advance. The University theory examinations are usually conducted as per the following Schedule:


INTERNAL ASSESSMENT THEORY EXAMINATION ORAL / PRACTICAL
For Candidates with current papers / appearance JULY AUGUST SEPTEMBER
For Candidates with arrears JANUARY FEBRUARY MARCH

PLEASE NOTE: STUDENTS HAVING ARREARS IN FIRST AND SECOND YEAR OF THE COURSE OF STUDY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO APPEAR FOR THIRD / FINAL YEAR PAPERS UNTIL THEY CLEAR ALL THE ARREARS OF FIRST AND SECOND YEAR OF COURSE OF STUDY.

Attendance

Every candidate should have attended at least 95% OF THE TOTAL NUMBER OF CLASSES conducted in an academic year from the date of commencement of the term to the last working day as notified by university in each of the subjects prescribed for that year separately in theory and practical. Only such candidates are eligible to appear for the university examinations in their first attempt. Special classes conducted for any purpose shall not be considered for the calculation of percentage of attendance for eligibility.

A candidate lacking in prescribed percentage of attendance in any subjects either in theory or practical in the first appearance will not be eligible to appear for the University Examination in that subject .


Passing Criteria

A Candidate is declared to have passed in a subject, if he/she secures 50% of marks in each of Theory, Practical and Internal Assessment. overall as per the norms prescribed by the University. BSS Institutional Course Candidates shall require to obtain 40% of the marks only to be qualified in each paper.


Internal Assessment

It is a pre-requisite for the candidates to obtain a minimum of 50% marks in Internal Assessment to become eligible to appear for the Examination.


Ragging

Ragging in any form will be treated as a criminal offence

General Instructions

  1. The Academic Board expects parents or guardians to co-operate with the academic authorities in the education of their children.
  2. They should follow the students’ progress in studies and his/her general conduct and shall meet the teachers periodically or whenever called for.
  3. The management reserves right of admission. In matters of admission, academic programmes, extracurricular and co-curricular activities and students discipline, the decision of the management will be final and binding on all parties concerned.
  4. All admissions are made provisional and are subjected to the approval of the University.
  5. At the discretion of the management, admission may be declined or cancelled at any time during the course if warranted by non-performance or on grounds of serious disciplinary action.
  6. MOBILE PHONES ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED IN THE CAMPUS. THIS MAY CAUSE SEIZING OF MOBILE PHONES.
  7. Indulgence in activities of union or associations based on Caste, Creed, Language, Religion, Nationality or Political Ideology shall not be permitted within the premises of the campus.
  8. Students can go to Canteen only during the breaks.
  9. Strict discipline should be maintained in the campus. Non-compliance of the rules and regulations will be severely dealt with appropriate action.
  10. Candidates should follow the following DRESS CODES in the campus on all working days. Failure of which may lead to stringent disciplinary action.


For Girls
Sari / Salwar Kameez or Churidhar Kurta with Duppatta along with White over coat (Jeans, T Shirts, Short Tops etc., are strictly prohibited)


For Boys
Pants tucked in shirts and black shoes with white over coat. (Jeans, T Shirts etc., are strictly prohibited)

Students Responsiblities

Students of Dr.Kamakshi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research are responsible for meeting the highest standards in their academic and personal conduct student responsibilities for meeting these standards are as follows.


Students Discipline

Disciplinary measures imposed for Breach of student's responsibilities. A student shall receive only two notices or warnings (verbal or written) before a strong penalty is imposed for failing to meet any of the academic or personal responsibilities.


Banned Activities

Smoking in the campus / Chewing of pan, beetle leaves etc, Consumption of alcoholic substance or drugs, Indecent dressing, Not wearing identity card on the Campus, Violation of acceptable dress code, Use of mobile phone inside the campus


Discontinued Cases from other Institutions

Candidates who have DISCONTINUED any Degree / Diploma courses after their HSC(+2) seeking admissions to any course in this Institution should produce the following certificates (in original) along with the regular attachments.

  1. COURSE DISCONTINUATION CERTIFICATE or TRANSFER CERTIFICATE
  2. MIGRATION CERTIFICATE from the University by which the College / Institution (from the Candidate discontinued his/her course) Affiliated

Details of Fees for Allied Health Science Courses

The following fees should be paid with the above prescribed tuition fees during Admission: University Enrolment Fee – Rs.2500/- (subject to change by the Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR Medical University, Chennai)


Please Note

  1. UNIVERSITY EXAMINATION FEES IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE ABOVE FEE DETAILS.
  2. Candidates will be required to pay University Examination Fees during all appearances.
  3. FEES ONCE PAID TO A PARTICULAR COURSE WILL NOT BE REFUNDED / TRANSFERRED TO ANY OTHER COURSE(S) UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
  4. IMPORTANT NOTE: The above – mentioned Fees do NOT INCLUDE the fees for Text Books, Records of Practicals, Uniforms / Aprons. Such fees will be intimated separately.
  5. The First Year Tuition Fees should be paid fully during the time of admission and the Second and Third Year Fees shall be paid within September of every consecutive academic year.
